May, 2007 Board meets with Land Developer. See attached proposal for "The Preserve at West Beach" May 18, 2007 see attached map. This is to notify you that the property between FM3005 and Bermuda Beach has recently been purchased by a developer. The developer does not intend to change the single family property zoning on the land that falls between Bermuda Beach and FM3005.
BBIC President Andy Lang, Treasurer Mildred Coker, and Secretary Kathy Love met with the developer on Tuesday, May 15 to view the proposed plan. The planning commission meeting originally scheduled for May 15 was cancelled by the City and rescheduled for June 5 at 4 pm. New notices from the City are being mailed out. Please be sure to return them to the City promptly and attend the meeting if at all possible. We would like to know your concerns regarding this development. The Coastal Impact and Assistance Program was authorized by Congress to assist states in protecting and restoring coastal resources and mitigating the impacts of Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) leasing and development. The Office of the Governor has directed the Texas General Land Office to coordinate with the CCC in the allocation of program funds.

June 16, 2006 E-mail vote of Directors The GCAD has identified 6,078 constructed homes west of the Seawall. They identified the number of constructed homes in Bermuda Beach at 138 or 2.27% of the total on the west end. Based on this information, the Telemedicine Clinic would appreciate a contribution of $910 ($40,100 X 0.0227). I would be pleased to give you any information that supports the contribution recommendation. If the suggested contribution is too much, whatever your property owner association could submit would be appreciated. Requested by the WGIPOA
At the June meeting the board suggested we pledge $500 but would wait to see what was being requested from the WGIPOA. We have been advised that our share based on the above information would be $910. An Email vote was taken for approval of $910 one time contribution from Bermuda Beach. Yes, Kathy, Leonard, and Andy. No response Marie and Mildred. Motion passed and Mildred has been asked to send a check.
June 12 Week of:: Marie traveled to Austin to visit with the GLO about our proposed nomination for the CIAP Grant. Marie reported that the GLO was in favor of the project.

Commissioners resolved that they would support the application and act as the sponsor.
June 11, 2006 BBIC Directors Meeting
June 6, 2006 The GLO released a devastating blow to property owners in Texas. The 2 year moratorium was not extended. I'm sure the last chapter of this decision has not yet been written. At the end of the press conference Jerry Patterson glibly stated "Lifes a beach". I would imagine that quote will come back to haunt him. I hope.
May 31, 2006 Kathy Love applied for a CEPRA (Coastal Erosion Planning & Response Act) Emergency Beach Renourishment and Dune Restoration Project Project. Buy in for this project would be $50,000 and would be 25% of the purchase price of the $200,000 project.

May 2006 Has submitted two new "Emergency" Grants in hopes of receiving CEPRA money to nourish the beach. Apparently some money has become available and we were asked to "re-submit" our original proposal.
April 9, 2006 BBIC Directors Meeting
April, 2006 The property along the highway adjacent to Bermuda Beach has been sold to a developer. The plan is to build homes along the highway on the parcel of land that borders our East side first. This will take at least a year. Depending on how that turns out the developer will either start building across the street and to the area west of Pabst Rd along the highway or will resell the land.
November 4, 2005 The BBIC Board has applied for a $200,000 beach nourishment, dune replenishment project through FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant. This would be similar to what was proposed for CEPRA IV. West Galveston Island did not receive any new CEPRA money during this last round of awards so we feel very "hopeful" that the FEMA project will be a viable help.
November 7, 2005 The GLO has advised the BBIC that our proposal has been accepted. The GLO & City will now file a grant requesting 7 Hazard Mitigation projects on Galveston Island. Applicant: Texas General Land Office (GLO) with co-sponsors City of Galveston and subdivisions Pointe San Luis, Bay Harbor, Miramar, Half Moon Beach, Pirates Beach, Bermuda Beach, W. Beach Grand/Riviera I&II Condominiums, Sands of Kahala, and Sunny Beach , County: Galveston
