A Telemedicine Clinic Program for the Jamaica Beach Community
April 2006
Due to the nature and uncertainty of this project, a 4-month-pilot
program has been requested during the busiest times for Jamaica
Beach. The telemedicine pilot program will begin on Memorial Day
Weekend and run through the Labor Day weekend. To best accommodate
the high volume of the season, Electronic Health Network (EHN)
has been asked to provide coverage in two (2) four-hour clinic
sessions per week for Saturday and Sunday only.
It has also been requested that EHN provide an extra four-hour
session to cover the holiday on May 29th Memorial Day Weekend,
a full eight-hour session on July 4th and an additional four-hour
session on September 4th Labor Day Weekend.
Financially, the program can be operated at a manageable cost.
As previously discussed, telemedicine services at Jamaica Beach
are not billable to Medicare due to proximity to Galveston. However,
alternative options for reimbursement have been debated and could
be implemented at the County's discretion. The fee for the above
mentioned service will be at a cost of $40,800.00. This fee will
cover all equipment, maintenance, telecommunications, support,
patient clinic staffing, and physician services.

of the UTMB Electronic Health Network at 409-747-5290.

The GCAD has identified 6,078 constructed homes west of the Seawall. They identified the number of constructed homes in Bermuda Beach at 138 or 2.27% of the total on the west end. Based on this information, the Telemedicine Clinic would appreciate a contribution of $910 ($40,100 X 0.0227). I would be pleased to give you any information that supports the contribution recommendation. If the suggested contribution is too much, whatever your property owner association could submit would be appreciated.
At the June meeting the board had voted to contribute $500 but would wait to see what was being requested from the WGIPOA. We have been advised that our share based on the above information would be $910. An Email vote was taken for approval of $910 one time contribution from Bermuda Beach. 3 Yes 2 no response. Passed.
